EXTENDING THE LIFE OF STUDENTS' COMPUTERS: A SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVE TO OBSOLESCENCE Many users are faced with computers that have become slow, obsolete or incompatible with recent Windows updates. The traditional solution is often to buy a new device. ULiège offers a sustainable alternative: extending the life of these computers by installing Linux Mint, a free, secure, open-source, user-friendly, pleasant, lightweight, fast and easy-to-use operating system. It improves the performance of the machine while offering the essential features for university use. The Student Helpdesk of the General IT Service (SEGI) offers free installation of Linux Mint for students who wish to use it. This project reduces the digital footprint by limiting the production of electronic waste, while enabling significant savings by avoiding the premature purchase of a new computer. FIND OUT MORE LE PRINTEMPS DE LA MOBILITÉ: MOVING DIFFERENTLY FOR YOUR HEALTH AND THE PLANET From 12th to 23rd May, the University of Liège, the University Hospital, Liège Science Park and Citoyens en Mouvement pour ma santé (Citizens on the Move for my Health) jointly organised le Printemps de la mobilité (Springtime Mobility), focusing on active modes of transport (walking, cycling) and health. The event offered a variety of activities to promote well-being, combat sedentary lifestyles and encourage soft mobility. The programme included online training courses (cycling rules of the road, ergonomics at work), challenges for cyclists and pedestrians via the Strava app, personalised support for beginners, introductions to electric bikes, practical workshops (engraving, bicycle check-ups), and bicycle training courses. There were also opportunities for socialising: guided tours, breakfasts for pedestrians and cyclists, and a Café des Sciences (Science Café) on the Liège tram project. This initiative was free and open to all, with the aim of making active mobility a permanent part of people's daily habits. FIND OUT MORE SPRING CLEANING OPERATION AT ULIÈGE On 20th March, the Green Office and students studying Motor Sciences organised a large-scale litter collection around the campuses. Whether they were sporty types or simply enjoyed walking, everyone was invited to combine business with pleasure. In teams of 3 to 5 people, participants chose from several routes starting from Blanc Gravier, B1 or Place du 20-Août. On the agenda: fun, physical activity, competitions with prizes and snacks.
