“SUSTAINABILITY AND TRANSITION” ONLINE COURSE From the start of the 2024-25 academic year, a unique and innovative 2-credit (ECTS) «Sustainability and Transition» course will be compulsory on all Bachelor’s programmes at the University of Liège. This course is initially made up of an online part (which will gradually be made accessible to the entire university community). It consists of 54 video clips from ULiège experts and is structured into three interconnected modules. The first module provides a foundation of knowledge enabling us to take stock of the planet’s limits and the extent to which social needs are being met. The second module introduces a holistic approach to the causes of the various environmental and social issues, and applies this systemic approach to the question of food. Finally, the third module presents the concepts of sustainability and transition and introduces the solutions and levers for action. As a complement to this online course, each faculty will organise specific activities for its students. In addition, three evenings of reflection will be organised on the theme of combatting eco-anxiety, and workshops will be offered to members of staff. FUTURE PROJECTS In line with its strategic objectives, ULiège is announcing a number of initiatives relating to the teaching of sustainability and transition at ULiège. These include the launch of the online ‘Sustainability and Transition’ course for students and staff, the introduction of Service Learning, the creation of the SEOS Master’s degree within the UNIC network, as well as a university certificate in SME consultancy.
