Since 2005, the University has reduced its water consumption by almost 60% by replacing wastewater systems, increasing maintenance of its private water network at Sart Tilman and raising user awareness. As part of the AAPE program for the city center and Sart Tilman sites, a further 4% saving is expected through the replacement of certain equipment and the reuse of certain wastewater in industrial processes.

At the central building and Sart Tilman sites, continuous monitoring of installations was introduced at the end of 2019 to track water consumption and diagnose any malfunctions (leaks, etc.) as quickly as possible. Since then, more than 40 meters have been instrumented and are monitored on a daily basis.

As water is a dwindling resource, you can consult internal resources to reduce your consumption (both at work and in your private sphere).

Pilot project involving users

Based on initial measurements and analyses, it appears that the XX Août site is frequently subject to water leaks. We are therefore proposing a complementary system to the traditional "intervention requests". Users will now be able to scan a QRCode on the doors of the main premises (equipped with water points) to alert the ULiège Maintenance cells directly. Here's an example of a poster you may come across:
