Heating and electricity requirements

Heating requirements at the University of Liège (all sites combined) have fallen in recent years (-24%), thanks in particular to a major renovation program and better management of production facilities.

Electricity requirements are also down (-10%):

Although the University of Liège has invested in improving its lighting, it is worth noting that electrical consumption is also linked to research activities, which can vary from one year to the next.

In order to achieve the objectives discussed above, the University of Liège is currently completing the EEEF program (insulation, ventilation and relamping of a series of buildings) and is carrying out an AAPE plan (action to improve the energy performance) of its HVAC installations. The AAPE plan will run from 2019 to 2028, and will involve renovating certain building boiler rooms, replacing outdated equipment and recovering energy from extracted air.

The following table summarizes the key figures for this investment program:

Annual electricity savings (MWh) 822
Annual heating savings (MWh PCI) 9450
AnnualCO2 savings (tonnes) 1837
Investment (Euros) 3 Mi€
