Publication of the 2022-2023 sustainable development report for the University of Liège
ULiège has published the third edition of its annual sustainable development report, which presents the actions carried out in terms of social and environmental transition during the 2022-2023 academic year. It bears witness to the extraordinary dynamism demonstrated by the university community and the progress made on numerous sustainability-related projects.
This report crosses all the university's missions and its various components, to offer a broad view of current sustainability initiatives. Interviews with players involved in the transition of our campuses provide an opportunity to discuss the energy renovation of our buildings, the development of infrastructure for cyclists, the reduction of the carbon footprint of our international travel and IT, and the essential work in favor of gender equality.
The report also goes to meet the faculties, administrations, Green Office and many members of the university community who are carrying out projects in favor of the transition. In particular, it presents the plan to include a compulsory "Sustainability and Transition" course in all bachelor's degree programs from 2024-2025, designed to develop a cross-disciplinary knowledge base, and the results of the first call for "Sustainable Development" projects, which resulted in the support of 5 winners.
Once again, this report demonstrates the commitment of the Université de Liège and its community to a fair and responsible transition, integrating all aspects of its missions. This dynamic has been recognized by the QS Sustainability 2024 ranking, which places ULiège at the top of French-speaking universities in this field. Our institution's ambitions will be further strengthened by the forthcoming adoption of a transition roadmap that will mark out the University's trajectory and give it greater visibility.
