On August 24, the University of Liège took part in the Pride march organized by Liège Pride, with an information stand and a float led by the ULiège community. A colorful procession to celebrate diversity and fight against LGBTQIA+phobia.
Nearly 4,000 people joined the long Pride parade in downtown Liège on Saturday afternoon. In addition to an information stand where people could meet ULiège's actions, the university had chosen to show its support with a float, decorated and maneuvered by volunteers from the ULiège community. In the presence of Rector Anne-Sophie Nyssen and Ethics and Equality Policy Advisor Florence Caeymaex, the ULiège delegation walked the streets of the Cité ardente alongside staff, students and participants in the event.
ULiège's strong presence at this 1st edition of Pride ⎼ one of whose messages was the fight against harassment suffered by LGBTQIA+ people ⎼ is in keeping with its focus on the concrete strengthening of equality policies and support for LGBTQIA+ rights.

Best Pride Ally Award
On the eve of the Pride march, ULiège was honored at Maison Arc-en-ciel with the Pride Best Ally Award. This was an opportunity to highlight the university's strong and ongoing investment in LGBTQIA+ rights, including the creation of the Conseil Genre et Égalité, the hosting of the fondation Ihsane Jarfi symposium, the #RESPECT campaign against harassment, and the awareness-raising activities organized on May 17, World Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
