ULIÈGE STUDENTS AT UNIC SUSTAINABILITY WEEK 2025 On the initiative of the UNIC Student Board, student representatives from the alliance organised the first UNIC Sustainability Week at University College Cork (UCC) from 31st March to 2nd April. This event gave students the opportunity to reflect together on their role as sustainability actors on their respective campuses. The UNIC student representative from ULiège, Leïla Benaziza, shared the institution's ambitions in this area and actively participated in workshops, panels and collaborative activities focused on sustainability. In particular, she highlighted the University's green initiatives, such as the Green Office and its offerings, thereby contributing to the collective discussions. Participants were able to discover and draw inspiration from concrete projects designed to address the ecological challenges facing higher education institutions. Initiatives such as food waste dispensers, meat-free canteens and campuses incorporating natural spaces for pollinators were presented. Through this type of event, the UNIC alliance aims to strengthen inter-university cooperation for a more sustainable future. unic@uliege FIND OUT MORE HERA AWARDS 2025 The HERA Awards are distinctions awarded each year by the Foundation for Future Generations to encourage young graduates who have written master's dissertations focused on transforming the world. This year, six dissertations by ULiège students were nominated. At the 13th awards ceremony, held at UCLouvain in April 2025, two young graduates from ULiège won prizes. The winners: • Winner of the HERA Award Sustainable Economy | Social Economy Lucien Rayp was awarded for his master’s dissertation defended at HEC Liège entitled "What are the consequences of managing agricultural land according to capitalist principles in Wallonia? What impact could an initiative such as Terre-en-Vue have on the mechanisms caused by this management?". Supervisor: Kevin Maréchal. • Winner of the HERA Award Sustainable Behaviour Oriane Tasiaux won this award for her master's dissertation defended at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, entitled "In search of a new paradigm for thinking about the socio-ecological transition of museums: degrowth in the museums of the WalloniaBrussels Federation". Supervisor: Elsa Mescoli. • Category: HERA Award Sustainable Food Systems Coline Prévost for her master’s dissertation defended at Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, entitled "Being a farmer: codesigning agricultural tools. The case of a market garden cart."
