COMPULSORY TRAINING FOR NEW ADMINISTRATIVE, TECHNICAL AND SUPPORT STAFF From January 2026, ULiège will introduce compulsory training for all newly hired administrative, technical and support staff. This cross-disciplinary training will raise awareness of the causes and complexity of current and future crises, emphasising collaboration and responsible action to build sustainable solutions. The workshop will draw on videos from the SPOC 'Sustainability and Transition', followed by discussions with the University's Sustainability Officer and Green Office. Discussions will focus on environmental impacts, barriers and drivers of change, and solutions for a sustainable future. The facilitators will also present ULiège's sustainability initiatives and propose concrete actions that can be implemented on campus and in people’s private lives. Participants will be invited to explore these issues in greater depth by following the complete SPOC online. durable@uliege.be ; green.office@uliege.be A PARTNERSHIP WITH RTBF TO TRAIN JOURNALISTS AND RAISE THE PROFILE OF OUR EXPERTS The University of Liège and RTBF are joining forces in September 2025 to raise awareness of sustainability and transition issues. Thanks to this partnership, 50 RTBF staff members will have access to the SPOC "Sustainability & Transition" programme each year. This programme aims to develop a critical understanding of the dynamics between human society and the Earth system and will enable RTBF to fully fulfil its public service mission. In return, RTBF will contribute its media expertise through media coaching sessions and support for the production of the SPOC video clips. This collaboration will improve the quality of the course and increase the visibility of ULiège's academic experts, particularly women, in the RTBF media. durabilite.transition@uliege.be CREATION OF A MOOC ON RESPONSIBLE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY The aim of this project is to create a ULiège MOOC on the theme of Responsible Digital Technology, in collaboration with the French Institute for Responsible Digital Technology (Institut du Numérique Responsable (INR)). This online course will aim to raise awareness and train students and members of the University community in the fundamental principles of the responsible digital technology approach. This project is promising and original thanks to the pooling of ULiège's expertise in both 'subject matter' and the production of high-quality teaching resources, with the support of Care numérique. Collaboration with INR will ensure content validated by a wide range of experts in the field, while offering an international showcase for our work, as this MOOC will also be open to the general public. numerique.responsable@uliege.be 2.3 FUTURE PROJECTS Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, new structural projects will reinforce the commitment to sustainability at the University of Liège, both in terms of education and strategic partnerships.
