CREATION OF A ULIÈGE ETHICS CHARTER Led by Florence Caeymaex and developed by a group of experts from various departments responsible for this issue, the draft ethical charter of ULiège is built around three fundamental principles: integrity, respect for the individual and responsibility – the foundations that define the commitments, duties and obligations that the University undertakes to uphold and enforce, both vis-à-vis individuals and the institution itself. It aims not only to affirm a shared vision of university ethics, but also to provide the community with a living, applicable tool capable of transforming everyday practices and strengthen the consistency of the values upheld by the University of Liège, in particular by emphasising respect and well-being in one of these three pillars. The drafting of the ethical charter followed a rigorous process and was led by the expert hired for this purpose, Samira Oucchi, in collaboration with the dedicated working group, and was also reviewed by three focus groups of members of the university community, led by Maxime Morsa. ROADMAP FOR RESPONSIBLE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY The University of Liège has embarked on a process of in-depth adaptation to contemporary societal challenges, including the digital transition. In this context, it is restructuring its governance and aims to make it intrinsically compatible with responsible, sober and inclusive digital technology. Among other things, this requires mastery of digital tools and coordination of digital projects, within a governance structure focused on user needs.
