COMBATING SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND VIOLENCE: “WHITE NOVEMBER” The Gender and Equality Council organised «White November» in November 2024, with a major event on 25th November. This institutional day was dedicated to the fight against harassment and sexist and sexual violence. ULiège’s support services and key figures were presented. Bérénice Hamidi, a professor specialising in performing arts policies and actively involved in the fight against gender-based and sexual violence, gave a talk, and the Rector closed the day with an inspiring speech to reaffirm ULiège’s commitment. GENDER-RELATED INITIATIVES The University of Liège is launching a series of training courses on gender bias, deconstructing stereotypes and gender-based violence. By making a firm commitment to combatting gender-based and sexual violence, the University is aiming to bring about a profound cultural transformation in its practices and operations. To support this change, appropriate training will be offered: online training for the entire University community, and recommended training for students, front-line staff and managers. In addition, the University of Liège, with the support of its Gender and Equality Council, is launching an initiative to feminise the names of classrooms. The aim of this initiative is to promote gender equality, increase the visibility of women in the public arena and support inclusion. By reinstating forgotten female figures, the initiative is helping to strengthen women’s sense of legitimacy within the institution. RAISING AWARENESS OF MENTAL HEALTH AMONG PEERS The Student Quality of Life Service is currently working on creating a peer-to-peer first aid awareness course on mental health for the 2024-25 academic year.
