SOCIAL In terms of welcoming and caring social practices, ULiège plans to formalise its equality and scientific integrity policy, improve its management of the mental health of members of its community, provide training on gender issues and diversify its projects for welcoming researchers and students at risk. DRAWING UP A CHARTER OF ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT The institution wishes to clarify for the entire community (students and staff, whatever their status) the behaviour that is deemed acceptable or unacceptable in terms of interpersonal relations, management, scientific integrity, etc. The Rector’s adviser on ethics and equality policies, Florence Caeymaex, with the help of the «Charter of Ethics and Deontology» working group, is currently working on a charter of ethics and deontology, which will apply to the entire university community and should come into force in September 2026. UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL: NEW INTEGRATION PROGRAMMES Since 2016, the University of Liège has put in place measures to integrate refugee students into higher education, including free French lessons and entrance exams. From the start of the 2024-2025 academic year, two major pilot projects were launched: Access2ULiège and EU Passworld to Belgium. Access2ULiège will provide support for students already in Belgium: it will offer one-year support with an individual adviser, intensive French courses, courses in the faculty, as well as support from ‘buddies’ to facilitate their academic and social integration with a view to registering as a bachelor student the following year. Funded by the European Fund for Asylum, Migration and Integration, the EU-Passworld project aims to offer talented refugees safe and legal access to higher education in a third country. ©️ M.
