APPOINTMENT OF A SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER In June 2023, ULiège hired Sophie Blain as its Sustainability Officer. She coordinates the Sustainability Unit (which also includes the Green Office) and is ULiège’s key contact for sustainability issues, both internally and with partners. She is responsible for developing and monitoring ULiège’s transition strategy, ensuring that the sustainability policies implemented are consistent, and guaranteeing continuity in the actions undertaken, as well as synergy between initiatives. Sophie Blain is also responsible for transition reporting, including the calculation of the institution’s carbon footprint, the annual publication of the sustainability report and the institution’s participation in the international rankings that assess our sustainability. Sophie.blain@uliege.be 5.2 2023-2024 ACHIEVEMENTS In terms of governance of the social and environmental transition, the University of Liège undertook several significant actions in the 2023-24 academic year. It hired a Sustainability Officer and set up a network of «sustainability relays» to facilitate the coordinated implementation of sustainability projects within the institution.
