HOSPITABLE UNIVERSITY Following ULiège’s 2022 adoption of the «ULiège, Hospitable University» declaration of principles, the institution is reaffirming its commitment to welcoming and integrating students and researchers fleeing conflicts or threats in their countries. In response to an appeal launched in March 2023, more than twenty refugee students and researchers have already been supported. A working group chaired by the Vice-Rector for Mobility and International Affairs, Pierre Duysinx, was set up and on 21st November 2023 ULiège joined the «Scholars at Risk» section of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. universitehospitaliere@uliege.be CREATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE VIOLENTOMETER BY THE GENDER AND EQUALITY COUNCIL In 2024, the Conseil Genre et Égalité (CGE) (Gender and Equality Council) created a tool called violentomètre (“abuse scale”) to raise awareness of sexist and sexual violence and harassment. This prevention tool helps people to recognise unhealthy situations in personal, professional or educational relationships. It aims to raise awareness among those affected and those who witness it, while transforming the working environment to foster collaboration and caring. The violentomètre is available on the University website, from the Students’ Federation (Fédé) and/or can be ordered from the CGE for distribution at events. bbomans@uliege.be RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT LISTENING TO VICTIMS OF HARASSMENT As part of its “J’agis pour me sentir bien” («I’m taking action to feel good”) campaign, at the start of the 2023-24 academic year, the Student Quality of Life Service organised an activity to raise awareness about the problem of harassment and how to listen to victims. This workshop is aimed at anyone who can act as a resource in the event of harassment, as well as those who may have found themselves at a loss when faced with someone who has been through a difficult experience.
