From May 23, 2024, eight new secure bicycle parking facilities will be officially available to the ULiège community on the Sart Tilman campus. These new facilities will complement the 600 spaces of all types already available on the Arlon, Gembloux and Liège sites, as well as showers.

The €1 million project, financed by ULiège's own funds, comprises :

  • 3 fenced-in areas: 1 in parking lot B and 2 in P17 under the Place des Orateurs, near B31 and B32
  • 5 shelters near B2, B5, B26, B45 and B52

These parking lots are accessible via a badge reader and are equipped with racks for two-point bicycle attachment, lighting, cameras and recharging points for people using electrically-assisted bicycles. To apply for access, go to My Mobility (access reserved for the ULiège community).

A range that's about to get even bigger!

As part of its mobility policy, ULiège has set itself a series of objectives, including increasing the number of secure bicycle parking spaces. Last September, the Service Public de Wallonie launched a call for projects. Applications were submitted for the Arlon, Gembloux, Van Beneden/Pitteurs, Constitution (in collaboration with ESA) and Sart Tilman sites. In all, a subsidy of €112,000 was obtained for the purchase of 9 cargo bike racks, 33 bike racks (196 places), 10 bike boxes (50 places) and 11 self-repair stations. Installation is scheduled for the summer.

In parallel, a series of worksites have been carried out over the past few months to create or renovate certain paths dedicated to active modes on the Sart Tilman campus. Other links are planned in the coming months to complete and secure the practice of walking and cycling to and on campus

ULiège is committed to a policy of transition, and intends to take very concrete action by offering, on its own scale, an infrastructure enabling members of the university community to give priority to active modes of transport for their journeys to and on campus.

More and more of you are opting for carpooling, public transport, walking or cycling! The University encourages and supports you in this approach.
