Turn off the lights when you leave
In winter, we tend to turn on the lights more. At ULiège, lighting accounts for about 25% of total electricity consumption. These few simple reflexes and gestures are therefore very important!
- Turn off the lights in your office when you leave it, even for a short time (lunch break, appointment, end of the day...)
- At the end of the day, if you are the last to leave your building or wing, turn off all lights that are still on (offices, restrooms, common rooms, hallways and stairwells).
- Reduce, if possible, the lighting in offices, workshops, production halls or warehouses (while respecting safety standards).
- On a bright day, it is sometimes possible to turn off the lights.
The right reflexes that make a difference
- Don't forget to turn off the projection screens in rooms equipped for video conferencing.
- In addition to remembering to turn off lights, avoid leaving doors and windows open during the heating season (while respecting health recommendations - ventilate for a few minutes every two hours in rooms with little or no ventilation).
